naya-kashmir-happy-kashmir-2022-winds-of-change

The ongoing counter terrorism in Kashmir is not new and has been going on for more than three decades now. India’s approach to address the Kashmir problem is focused on cross border terrorism, unemployment & misgovernance however Pakistan’s Kashmir policy is based on two prominent legs, one being the UN resolutions and other cross border terrorism while later become more of a problem for Pakistan too rather than a solution.

Problem in Kashmir began after the reports of election fraud committed by the ruling party way back in 1987 giving Pakistan an apt opportunity to encash the ongoing political unrest and fueled its own agenda by creating number of tanzeems in the name of fighting for the voices of Kashmir. The Pakistan sponsored proxy war paralysed the normal life and has costed for more than thirty thousand lives including local Kashmiris and security forces.

The long over due unrest in the society has started embracing the changes and have learnt about the ill – conceived hidden agenda of Pakistan responsible for keeping the Kashmir away from all those socio-economic development being rejoiced by other states of these democratic country. The provisions of Article 370 has prevented the union govt from having a direct say in the affairs a state of J&K which by and large resulted into hindrance in economic growth, employment, gender equality, literacy and fighting corruptions. As opposite to the expectations of everyone post abrogation’s of 370, there was no protest happened like stone pelting/ strikes shut down of cities and town further frustrating the Pakistan for not being able to secure the confidence of the Kashmiri people, who rejected the mere narrative of Pakistan which have been propagated as a solution to Kashmir problem. The locals have willingly accepted the fresh reforms despite losing their special status in additions to their state food and there have been visible sign of emotional and psychological restoration of a society wherein youth love to embrace the main stream by their honest determination of peace.

There are many visible indicators suggesting the return of normalcy in the valley which includes improvement in governance, socio-economic development, justice to the disadvantaged sections of the populations. The successful conduct of DDC and Panchayat elections despite calls of boycott and threats issued by various consumes to the locals, opening of education institutes, substantial reduction in incident of stone pelting, elimination of terrorists to the tune of leaving the numbers below 150 for the first time since the rise of terrorism, conduct of winter games in Gulmarg in Mar 2020 and executions of various development of projects addressing the various needs and sections of the society are few that can be listed across.

The unfurling of tricolor on all government offices and buildings across the Union Territory, installations of high mast flags at various places in the valley, participation of youth in national celebrations like Swarnim Vijay Varsh, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and so on are few which can be listed to support the claims of the display of patriotism by the locals. Handling of Kashmir Issue as India’s internal matter and maintaining and perusing it at various international forums have been one of the greatest tool of India’s foreign policy. Due to the above enumerated efforts India has ensured the return of normalcy and wave of development across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir which in addition left no talkers of Pakistan’s old narrative of human right violation of Kashmir.
