If you follow the situation in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir widely, you would have definitely seen the photo of a child sitting on her grandfather’s dead body in July 2020, which was highlighted dramatically by the Pakistani sponsored media in a filthy manner. I too was very moved and troubled after seeing this image, and it posed a lot of questions in any common man’s understanding of Kashmir and the Indian Government’s claim of peace and prosperity in the valley. I was so disturbed by this news that I decided to look into the matter. The unfortunate tryst of this kid exposed to the violence and gunfight, for which eventually the Indian Armed forces were blamed by the spin doctors who aid militant narrative, evidently to make money and political gains out of this shameful act.
To dig out the truth and clear certain doubts in my mind, I started my quest for the answers and travelled all the way from Karachi to Srinagar. Most of you would be surprised to know that I am a Pakistani nationalist and closely follow the situation in Kashmir; with enough conviction on the matter I am now of the opinion that Indian Army is doing a fantastic job in the valley by providing a conducive environment for the government to launch various developmental projects there, which is quite clearly visible when we compare it with Pakistani occupied Kashmir or for that matter even with so called, developed cities of Pakistan. Pardon me for a slight distraction from our main topic and let me jump back to the topic straight away. So, here I was travelling through the lush green apple orchards on a National Highway through the heartland of the Kashmir valley, on reaching a far flung village in the border areas of North Kashmir I met Jehangir, he was an average looking, fair and seemingly religious man. I got to know about him through one of his relative living in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, who was in constant touch with Jehangir. He told me that his sister was also killed in a cross firing in 2004, so I was here to know more about the incident.
After some formal greetings and customary ‘Noon Chai’, we started with our conversation.
“I am sorry to hear about the untimely death of Shaziya in the cross firing” I shared my condolences with him.
“It’s alright Janab, since these devils masked in religious faith have entered our beautiful Kashmir to which we refer as Jannat, our lives have been miserable”, He spoke in a disgruntled tone.
“I heard that Shaziya was killed in a crossfiring between militants and security forces”, I enquired.
“Who Killed Shaziya?” he questioned me back, as if I was the person responsible for that. I could not understand and once again asked him.
“Janab, I got to know that you have come all the way from Pakistan, I respect you for that, but I want you to request your Markaz in Islamabad on my behalf, that please for god’s sake stop sending militants here, you are the one who must be held responsible for our misery”.
I was totally shocked and started feeling guilt and insecurity at the same time. I insisted him to speak more.
“Do you know as soon as Shaziya was killed, I received threatening phone calls from the commander of a terrorist tanzeem, he forced me to speak against Indian Army and told me to put the blame on them for which he offered me a lot of money also”
“Oh, but how could you know that whose bullet was hit in a crossfire?” I enquired.
“Exactly, I didn’t know, I was not even there, but still I blame these terrorists for killing my sister. It’s only because of them that we Kashmiris are put into this situation, Indian Army has always supported us in every way, and they think about our well-being and betterment, it would have been haram, if I would have put this death on their heads. So, the question here is not that, who killed Shaziya? But the question is who put us into this dirty situation. Initially these militants came and talked about religion and freedom. Most of us got into their trap, we were moved by them, because there was no one else to show us way, even certain maulvies betrayed us into wrong. Later on these same devils who would speak about freedom, started looting our wealth, ration, pride, our mothers, wives even little daughters were not spared. They would barge into our homes as if it was theirs and take away whatever they wished for, if anyone would protest, he would be shot, what kind of freedom was this? And all of them came from your beloved Pakistan; they were either, trained there, weaponised there or born there.
“Shaziya was killed by the militants, I said this then why I was threatened for my life, I will say this forever. Because militancy is the actual reason why my sister left us too early in this world”.
I was startled by these facts, the way Jehangir put everything in front of me like a naked truth, it also strengthened my beliefs about Kashmir. Everything was seeming to be very clear, how could have anyone known as to whose bullet hit her during the crossfire, but it starts a very dirty blame game after the sad incident and lives are then sold for money by some to keep the dirty political business running, forgetting every time that Common man is the sufferer in all these, through this article I intend to urge every political leader in Pakistan to stop this non sense funding and we must stand strong as a Nation apologetically in front of the Awam of Kashmir.
