A country is an integral unit where a mass group of individuals reside together under a government. It has a flag under which the individuals are united, and a government that works for the people and is actually made by the people but if the people are miserable and are discriminated on the basis of religious faith, they hold dear to themselves, then odds of the survival of the country for long is trival.
Something very similar can be witnessed in one of our neighboring states- Pakistan. A grave human rights situation is being faced in the present-day by the state. Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Shias and Ahmadis alongside some other religions which are minorities often have to experience discrimination and are even subjected to violence at times. During the Covid-19 pandemic, which struck the world recently in 2020, reports surfaced that basic necessities like rations were being denied to minorities like Hindus and Christians in the coastal areas of Karachi. Women who belong to minority communities have been soft targets for malpractices. They are compelled to undergo conversions and marriages. The issue of forced conversion, rape and forced marriages of women from minorities in Pakistan have lately been raised by the United nation council. The US ambassador to Pakistan, Anne W Patterson, issued an unusually strong statement suggesting Pakistan had witnessed an increase in "provocative statements which promote bigotry and are an incitement to extremist violence". In the Lahore attack, 94 were found dead and beyond 120 were wounded in nearly simultaneous strikes against two mosques of the minority Ahmadiyya community.
This is not regarding any religion, in particular, people who follow Holy Quran, Shrimad Bhagwad Gita, Holy Bible, or any other religious books. These massacres turned up impartially. Reports suggest that more than 1000 minor girls are forcibly converted every year, kidnapping of ladies from minorities is common news which may not be shown on electronic media but is whispered throughout the country as people who try to oppose these evil practices and support the victims are themselves not accommodated in the society. These forced conversions, marriages and kidnapping are just the tip of the iceberg. If someone speaks against these diabolical men, they all are sentenced by the likewise predators under the law. The Pakistan Blasphemy Law derives from section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code which brings out that whoever "disgraces the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) shall be sentenced by death, or otherwise incarceration for life, and will also be liable to fine." To keep low-class families or minorities under check and to blackmail them, they are falsely accused by these vicious individuals who depict that they are actually working as per what Allah wishes.
One of the factors of this mindset is the education system. The textbooks are filled with examples showing negative portraits of the minorities. Their involvement in the civil and military sectors is actually not portrayed in the books. The Taliban which is associated with the army even attacks Schools and have burned them down, of which are mostly girls schools. The evident discrimination may be spotted in the constitution of Pakistan, in which Islam is made the religion of the state. And no man from minorities is eligible to stand up for becoming a president. The government has the total Authority in the state and nobody can make an attempt to go against it. In July 2021, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) ordered 24NewsHD, a TV news channel, off the air indefinitely for the so-called "illegal transmission of news and current affairs content." Journalists and opposition activists asserted that the channel was being punished for airing criticism of the government.
To date, no action has been taken by the government to make any changes, which has led to unrest in some areas and this will soon or else later be causing the development of a brand-new terror group that will have new demands and different ideas which in turn will certainly eat up the state through and through. The condition of the minorities in the state is deteriorating day by day and if not checked, even worse is waiting ahead.
