TURNING POINT: INDO PAK WAR 1947

Few incidents have had a larger impact in the history of our planet & its people in the 20th Century as the First Indo Pak War of 1947. The ages old challenges of the Hindu - Muslim divide, which was largely created by the British as a yoke to control the masses came to the forefront which resulted firstly in the division of Modern India and gave birth to decades of conflict which continues to play its hand even today. Little could anyone have imagined that the creation of a line drawn by a Britishers would become a focal point, first in the ‘War Against Terror’ & then a nation which left no stone unturned in its efforts to milk larger states; be it the Afghan – Russia War, the emergence of the Taliban or the Chinese BRI which in effect is global debt trap.

It all began with the delay in the signing of the infamous “Instrument of Accession” by the then Maharaja Hari Singh which lead to initially a rebellion by a certain sect which was part of the J & K State forces, which were then supported by the irregulars as well are regular soldiers of the erstwhile Pak Army. Their initial success notwithstanding, a daring air effort by the Indian Air Force coupled with the Indian Army & the bravery of the Sikh Regiment saw the reversal of fortunes wherein our forces were able to bring back a peace & prosperity at the time. However, the lesser-known fact exists that Gilgit Baltistan was treacherously acceded to the Pakis by a British Officer without firing a single shot!!!

Cascading events since then have led to numerous wars as well as the creation of another nation of Bangladesh. India largely treats Pakistan as an irritating pest since it has progressed leaps & bounds over its neighbor, which continues to spew venom & focus on the Kashmir Issue for its own political gain. In the recent years especially after the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanisthan, resulted in drastic reduction of funds to the military state, hence today Pakistan is literally fighting for its existence & it has but only one agenda since 1947 i.e. to unfortunately keep its pipe dream of Kashmir alive. The Kashmiri Awam also understands this game & understands that the peace, prosperity & economic development mantra of the Indian State is preferable to the Talibanisation of its way of life which is currently happening in the Pak Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The advent of the G 20 summit in J & K which is on the radar of the nefarious agencies of the Pak Military, indicates its desperation wherein it is likely to target innocent humans in its effort to sensationalise an issue for which its nefarious intentions began in 1947.

The Pak Nation could not accept the defeat of the 1947 War, and could not fathom its subsequent embarrassment in all the wars since then. It’s an Army with a Nation and not an Army of the Nation, hence it continues to this day to dream about success against its neighbor wherein unfortunately it has assisted, abetted & encourages certain inimical elements to carry out horrific attacks against mankind which have affected all nations of the world. The Pak Nation continues to suffer defeat in all wars & has finally unofficially ceded large swathes of its territory to China as it knows it can neither effectively control nor administer these areas. The Shia Sunni divide in Gilgit Baltistan continues to grow as this beautiful place was largely peaceful & if not for the treachery of the British Officer at Skardu would have remained with India in 1947 as well.

Finally, its hightime that Pakistan in its own interest & for the welfare of its own citizens focuses inwards & stops to rake up an issue which as it is it had no right to in 1947 & progresses in the modern era towards a vibrant democracy & peace with its neighbours. The recent events indicate the ‘Wrath of God’ in the devastating floods in the nation as well as the ‘Wrath of Karma’wherein TTP is targeting the Pak troops & people alike. A war which began in 1947 continues to sow disharmony, all because it’s an agenda which was faulty then, now & forever….
