In this world where we harp on personal beliefs and hold on to them to preserve our footprints in the sands of time, it becomes our earnest endeavour to ensure it is guarded fiercely. One of the most important aspects of one's personal beliefs is religion, it has given birth to many wars and many are still continuing over a thousand years. In a country like India where cultural heritage is so diverse and rich, it has a mixture of all religions over a period of time.
From the time of first Caspian settlers who brought with them the Rig Veda to first Muslim rulers of Delhi sultanate. Indians hold their religious beliefs very closely if not their livelihoods are swayed by it. There is a lot of difference between being pluralistic or radical. Religious pluralism is always the defining factor of our country's heritage and the whole world is in awe as to how we have preserved it for millennia. It teaches us to be welcoming of all religions and not discriminate against anyone based on what they believe in. Everyone is guaranteed their religious freedom and live in harmony together. With the Indian Army bearing the torch to go all out into helping their countrymen first without asking anything about religion. WHAM operations in Jammu and Kashmir have garnered a lot of trust amongst the Awaam which is helping curb out any kind of terrorist attacks with ease as the people are welcoming and are ready to help with anything the army requires. With the motto of service before self, every soldier ensures this is kept up with full honours.
On the contrary, religious radicalisation is a deep abyss which is filled with the pain of hatred. It can turn a gem into a stone. Many bright minds like this have been trapped with radical and extremist interpretations of religious texts which can easily strike a chord with anyone who is in want of money, revenge or due to illiteracy. Many young minds are moulded from a very young age by many extremists to take up violence and it always ends on a sad note with despair and gloom prevailing in the hearts of their loved ones who lost them. It is really easy to twist and form a narrative which suits as per the plans of terrorists who only know to kill people irrespective of religion. This can lead to other forms of proxy ears and faction formations which can start a civil war. To negate this we must focus on educating and giving children the right understanding of religion which is to bring peace everywhere.
Time is not far when the complete population will have enough mutual trust and will be against the terrorist, not sympathizing with them in any manner.
