National Integration by Abrogation of 370

In the poem “Where the mind is without fear” Rabindranath Tagore prays to Almighty that his countrymen should be free from any fear of oppression or forced compulsion. Tagore reveals the possibility of a nation that emerges from the thoughts and actions of individuals who respond to the truth within their inner being.

The word integrity mentioned in the ‘Preamble’ of Indian constitution means the state of being whole and undivided. Due to national integration, the social bond between people strengthens thereby endorsing brotherhood, peace and tranquility amongst each other. As India is a diversified country with demographic variations the national integration is however complex, dynamic, multidimensional concept consisting of a great variety of interlocking historical, political, social, cultural, economic elements. But, despite all complexities in India we have always believed in “unity in diversity” as an expression of harmony and unity between dissimilar individuals or groups.

The importance of national integration in any state is undisputedly obvious because it helps stabilize the democracy, increase the economic growth, develop the nation and give people all vital rights and duties. Promoting national Integration give its people an opportunity to live together in peace and prosperity.

One such step towards the National Integration was to revoke article 370 and 35A and reorganize Jammu and Kashmir. It was a very important steps towards the integration of the nation and one that people of India were waiting for 70 odd years. Because of this historic step people of Kashmir will finally be able to get the fruits of development that have been denied to them for so many years. There was discrimination against women, social economic justice in form of affirmative actions could not be passed to the weaker sections of society. Now, after this step all these thing are changed and will continue to change. Now, the people of Kashmir will have the same rights and privileges as the rest of India’s citizens. There will be no denial of fundamental rights to any residents. The existence of special rights for the people of Kashmir has generated a feeling of being different which in turn was exploited by forces inimical to the unity of India.

If India takes a course of becoming a powerful state with a strong nation, it will make much progress. We should remember that when a society is organized and united, it will never be the object of mockery or attacks. So, National Integration is a valuable weapon for a country to achieve success.
